About Us
Our dedicated team operates from two distinct locations—Duke's main campus in Durham and the Duke Marine Lab in Beaufort—bringing together students with diverse interests and expertise from various disciplines.
On the main campus, our focus lies on cell culture research, with students actively engaged in wet lab studies to unravel the cellular adaptations of marine mammals to hypoxia. Our endeavors extend to the generation of organoids and the exploration of the intricate relationship between stress and hypoxia pathways.

Meanwhile, the team based at the Marine Lab delves into the population genetics of bottlenose dolphins. Through extensive literature reviews and genetic analyses, we aim to comprehend the disparities between dolphin populations in different regions and explore their evolutionary pathways. Notably, our team also includes law students who offer invaluable insights into policy matters related to marine mammal conservation.
To foster knowledge-sharing and community engagement, our students regularly contribute to our blogs, covering a diverse range of topics related to our project. Additionally, we create instructional videos to facilitate collaborative learning within the community. Click here to explore our blogs page!
